We're excited to share that there's been great progress on several neighborhood initiatives over the past few weeks! Although we won't be holding our regular General Membership Meetings in July or August, I wanted to share a few quick updates from recent meetings with City leaders across several departments so you can stay in the loop as this work continues. Watch for more positive news in the coming weeks!

🚓 First: Public Safety

The Southwest Police Precinct continues with regular directed patrols at a cadence around Alki. You may have noticed their presence. If you see an immediate public safety concern, don't hesitate to call 911.

For non-emergency issues graffiti, abandoned vehicles, damaged signs, or park maintenance concerns, LIME bike issues, you can report on your phone easily with Seattle's Find It, Fix It app. Reports help the City identify priorities and direct city resources.

🚶 Neighborhood Pedestrian & Cyclist Safety Improvements

We're continuing to work with SDOT and District 1 City Councilmember Rob Saka's office on pedestrian, cyclist and traffic safety.

Alki Avenue SW improvements between 59th and 63rd are scheduled for Spring 2027. We shared this in our last meeting as reported in the WS Blog.
SDOT continues evaluations on pedestrian and traffic safety on 63rd Avenue SW as well this summer.

👋 Welcome to the ACC Team!

We're excited to welcome a dynamic duo to our leadership lineup. First, Greg Croasdill joins as our new Web Manager. Greg brings extensive technology experience and will be supporting our social media efforts too as he is also a fantastic photographer.

Plus, we welcome his high energy wife Kara Heinrichs as our Marketing & Communications support. Kara brings experience and passion for building community and will be helping share out ACC news and grow engagement.

Tip: She is also leading on a fun summer activity for all–to be revealed soon.

Gratitude

We also have two volunteers we want to thank for their service: Lynn Drake for serving as ACC's secretary and doing a stellar job launching our social media. We wish her the best as she focuses on urban housing and more. And e-hugs go to Heidy Hernandez-Breton who managed our website this past year. Heidy is off to California for an exciting new opportunity. Thank you both for everything!

It takes our village to make Alki better–which brings us the final days of the Department of Neighborhood's Good Neighbor Awards.

The city's first Good Neighbor Awards aim to honor people across Seattle who make their neighborhoods stronger through everyday acts of care, connection, and leadership. It's the big and small ways neighbors show up for one another; actions that others may not always see but that make a big difference in spreading kindness and building community. There are no “winners” or rankings. Each honoree will simply be celebrated for their care. Click the image for info.
